Whose Press Is More Free?

Lest we imagine that Israel and Israelis are monolithic in their support of their government’s policies toward Palestinians, check out these links:

It is ironic that despite the greater risks they face, organizations within Israel and even the Israeli press itself have been more outspoken about injustices committed against Palestinians than any in the U.S. In fact, there is more freedom of dialogue there than here, where we boast of freedom of the press.

There are many voices of conscience there who take seriously the words of the Law and Prophets not to oppress one’s neighbor and to seek justice. Would that we did.

  1. I never knew these groups existed. That’s awesome!

  2. Incredible! One of the most heart-wrenching moments came from Rabbi David Forman, who spoke about what happened to his daughter when she wore the “infamous” T-shirt. The shouts of traitor sound familiar. Remember what happened in the months after 9/11? Anyone “not on board” was ridiculed. Imagine living in a country where that is common place. Democracy my foot!

  3. Fear does strange things to people.
